Picture this… the AMM team gathered around in the office to watch all the latest Christmas ads. That’s pretty much how it goes!

So, in order to share our festive spirit, we wanted to share our team’s favourite Christmas Ads of 2022 🎅

ASDA

Of course, we have to start off with the talk of the town which is the ‘Have Your Elf A Merry Christmas’ campaign 🧝‍♂️ This advert has used iconic scenes from the Christmas film ‘Elf’ and re-written the storyline to be within an ASDA store. This is definitely one of the Christmas ads of 2022 to take everyone by surprise as it’s one of the first times we’ve seen something like this be done.

John Lewis

John Lewis took a very different approach with their ‘The Beginner’ campaign this year. Their heartfelt advert highlighted the increasing number of children that find themselves in the care system. The advert takes us on a journey where a dad is learning how to skateboard in preparation for the girl he is about to foster. Can you guess what she brings? A skateboard!

John Lewis chose an important issue to bring awareness to for their Christmas Ad this year and it definitely hit home for us!

Boots

The Boots ‘Joy For All’ campaign gets us off our seats as they show us a magical pair of glasses that, when you look through, transform the ordinary world into a festive wonderland! When you look through the glasses it reveals the desires of each person, all of which can of course be bought from Boots! This advert once again reminds us that with their huge range of gifts, there’s something for everyone in Boots.

Sky

Sky’s ‘Alternative Christmas Advert’ was also a popular one in our office! As it starts, we see a little girl make some Christmas decorations for a lonely neighbour with materials she finds around the house. We expect to see the typical heart-warming and appreciative reaction from the neighbour but instead, we hear “What a load of old crap!”. The humorous nature of this advert helped to bring the laughter back into Christmas and that’s why we love it.

Disney

Disney has actually been creating a series through their Christmas Ads for the last 3 years through their ‘From Our Family To Yours’ campaign. This campaign saw the ‘Grandma’ advert in 2020, the ‘Stepdad’ advert in 2021 and finishes this year with the ‘Gift’ advert in 2022. All adverts follow heartwarming family journeys and pull on your heartstrings. Our favourite thing about the Disney adverts is that above all they’re telling a story. They’ve created a series for viewers to follow so they become attached to the characters within.
