The Digital Marketing industry is continually evolving. We sometimes find that strategies that worked well for us last year, may not work well anymore.

With over 5 billion internet users worldwide, your business depends on a well developed digital marketing strategy to stand out from the competition.

In this blog, we’ll discuss some do’s and don’ts of digital marketing to help you boost your business!

Do – Personalised Marketing

Personalisation is a strategy that helps you stand out. It’s often achieved through various different relationship marketing strategies. These include using personalisation in emails, replying to your customers on social platforms and sharing client testimonials.

This kind of personalisation will allow your clients to feel like they matter and like you care about them. Therefore, encouraging repeat purchases and loyal customers!

Don’t – Spam or overshare

Always keep your posting professional and be cautious not to spam. You can still post 5 times a week without spamming your followers. The trick is to make sure everything you’re sharing is relevant, useful and interesting. This means that your followers may see your posts a lot, but they won’t find it frustrating.

Do – Construct a User-Friendly Website

We’re huge advocates for ‘your website is your biggest marketing tool’. No matter how much you’ve been recommended, we all do our own research. If somebody comes to your website and they struggle to use it or can’t find the information they need, they’re not going to trust your business. Therefore, you should make sure that your website is:

  • Visually appealing,
  • Has original content,
  • Has a balance of images, videos and infographics.

Don’t forget to regularly update your website with the latest information too!

Don’t – Neglect Your Audience

By interacting with the audience, you’ll solidify your position as a thought leader in the industry. Don’t just post relevant content and then forget about it. Make an effort to answer any queries as this will show your concern and care for customer satisfaction.

Do – Understand the Importance of Analytics

Google Analytics is an amazing tool that you can use to gain a deeper understanding of your web audience. It has the ability to tell you where your website visitors are coming from and what they’re doing.

You can also make use of Google Analytics goals. You can see exactly what people are doing on your website e.g. filling out a contact form or reading blog posts.

Don’t – Create Mobile Unfriendly Content

Mobile phones are EVERYWHERE! The majority of the time, internet users use their smartphones more than their desktops or laptops. If you want to grow your business digitally, you must ensure that your content and visuals, as well as your image, video and text formats are all optimised to be mobile friendly.

Do – Analyse your Target Audience

When marketing your product or service, it’s important that you understand your niche. It will be difficult to market to everyone as you won’t be able to utilise trends or themes that are specific. Therefore, it’s important that you start by analysing your target audience. Consider where they spend their time online, how they communicate and their pain points that you can fix.

We often use our Marketing Strategy Template to do this!

Don’t – Obsess Over the Competition.

A piece of advice that’s frequently given to new businesses is to carry out a competitor analysis. This is to identify where the market stands and how you can stand out above your competitors. However, don’t use it to compare. It’s easy to get caught up in how many followers or likes they have rather than their brand awareness and the business they’re getting.

At Amber Mountain, we offer a FREE Power Hour, in which a member of our team explores your current marketing strategy, what can be improved, and how to use certain tools and platforms to improve upon it.

JESS BUNTING

Marketing Apprentice

Best known for: Her obsession with the colour pink!

Jess joined AMM straight from her A-Levels as an apprentice and has never looked back! She is the baby of the office (and we love to remind her of that!!) Don’t let that fool you, though, she more than holds her own!

As our Marketing Apprentice, Jess gets stuck into absolutely everything, and she does it with the kind of energy that just makes it all more fun 🌟 She jumped straight in at the deep end and hasn’t come up for air since, and we love that about her!

Off the clock, Jess is basically living her best life at all times. You’ll find her in a pub garden soaking up the sun, on a spontaneous adventure somewhere in the world, or out on a run (can you tell we’re all into our fitness!?) 🏃‍♀️ Oh, and her pooch, Cally? Obsessed. And we get it 🐾

She is also a massive F1 fan 🏎️ McLaren and Red Bull, before you ask, and she is NOT a glory hunter!! 😂

Jess loves dancing, laughing, exploring, and just saying yes to whatever comes next. And honestly, that spirit is exactly what AMM is all about!!
