As we are approaching the most wonderful time of the year (yes, we did sing that in our best Andy Williams voice!), it’s time to make sure you’ve got your marketing in check!

The festive season is the perfect time to push your business online. Whether it’s a stocking filler, a gift from the big man or a service to get your home ready for the big day – we’ve got the strategy for you! So, here are five marketing strategies to utilise this Christmas.

Festive-Marketing

Discounts / Sale

Offering a discount or sale at this time of year is one of the best ways to reach people. More than ever, people are searching for a bargain. When they see you’ve got a discount or sale, they’ll be interested to check it out.

It’s up to you whether you make this available to everyone. You could have a closed discount code that only gets sent to previous customers or is only shared with your followers on Instagram.

85% of buyers prefer free shipping, so if you’re struggling to think of a feasible discount this would be a great place to start.

If you do those to offer a discount or hold a sale, our top tips would be to make sure you announce it all over your social media platforms and have it as a banner on your webpage, so everybody knows about it!

Themed / Trending Content

When it comes to festive marketing, you can’t stick to what you post the rest of the year. You need to ensure your digital content is timely and relevant to the time. Basically, all about Christmas! Rather than referring to your products as items, use festive terms. This could be ‘Gift’ or ‘Stocking Filler’ to make it stand out to those who are searching for festive gifts.

There will also always be new Christmas trends. It’s effective to jump onto those trends so you can reach new people at a time when they’ll be purchasing!

Personalised Emails

Wipe the dust off of that database and start building relationships this Christmas! We’ve all been there; we’re searching for a gift, and we add a few things to our basket but we get distracted and don’t end up buying them. If you don’t contact these potential customers, there’s a chance they could forget about you and buy from a competitor. So, it’s always useful to utilise email marketing to remind them.

In fact, ‘Abandoned Cart’ emails get 45% open rates which is almost double the average open rate for an email!

Email marketing ideas include:

  • Abandoned Cart (You left this in your basket…)
  • Personal Gift Guides (The ultimate gift guide for your…)
  • Discounts (A gift for you this Christmas)

Keyword Marketing

Some of the most popular Google searches during the festive period include:

  • Christmas gifts 2022
  • Christmas gifts for him/her
  • Christmas gift ideas
  • Christmas gifts for mum/dad
  • Christmas gifts for couples

Therefore, you should be using this information to target these potential customers. You could do this by creating pages on your website that are dedicated to these searches or by updating your SEO.

Either, Google will be where people are looking, so do what you can to make sure they find you!

Facebook / Instagram Shop

Our final festive tip is to create your Facebook and Instagram shop. If you sell physical products, a Facebook and Instagram shop will help you share your products on your social media.

Once you set up a shop you can tag each product within the image of a post or caption of a post. This means your followers can click this tag and be redirected to the product webpage and make their purchase.

Having a Facebook and Instagram shop can help eliminate the process of a follower having to find your website and then find the product page – where they could get lost or face issues. So, keep it fast and simple for them by tagging your products.

Now, who’s feeling ready to boss their marketing this party season?!
